  • BUM BUM BUMMM

A quick update on my life since April 01, 2005:

Bought a car, donated a car, found out I'm going to be a daddy, lost my job, moved in with my parents, found a new job, sold a house, bought a new house, and did a whole lot of driving.  Did I leave anything out?

Now that you're all up to speed, welcome back to my Xanga.  I cleaned up the spiderwebs and the skeleton in the corner (wonder who that was), and we're all ready to go.  I think I'll write like 3000 words (one word for every day without an entry) in this update.  I can tell you all the goings-on and everything.  Nevermind, I'm bored.  I'll just tell you to watch My Name is Earl, by far the funniest show on television right now.  I've never laughed so hard at white trash in all my life (and I've laughed pretty hard, let me tell you).  Also, tune into One Tree Hill, a kind of soapy drama about high school kids.  But this one's different!  It's got humor, basketball, attractive people, love triangles, twists and stuff, and characters you love to hate.  Trust me, it's like the O.C. but a gazillion times better, and without the melodrama and psychos.  Finally, watch Lost.  If you haven't been watching Lost, you suck.  You're also missing out on the best TV of the decade, bar none.  Rent or buy season one and get caught up.  You can thank me later.

If you remind me later, I'll come back and write about important stuff, like marriage, impending fatherhood, being a working stiff, theology, you know, stuff people actually care about.  Till then, stay frosty.  I hate winter.

  • A new entry!!!  Hurray.  I found out earlier today that all CPA Exam scores from the January/February testing window (I took mine January 31st) have been mailed as of today.  That means that very shortly I will be celeberatorily dancing, or beating my head against a wall in shame and utter dejection.  I'm wondering if I should have some sort of ritualistic way of opening the envelope my results come in.  You know, some sort of superstitious thing that will somehow turn the results, which are already recorded, into a passing grade?  In any case, at least I will finally know how I did and move on with my life.  Speaking of moving on, here's a bit of news trivia...Ms. Wheelchair Wisconsin Stripped of Her Crown!  Apparently she was able to stand, which is a big no-no for Ms. Wheelchair Wisconsin.  The story takes place in Appleton, Wisconsin.  Little known fact: a 26 year old woman from Appleton, WI paid over $20,000 to a charity to spend the day with Ozzie Ozbourne.  Littler known fact: Zachary Martin once lived in Appleton, WI.  Moral of the story: Appleton, WI is the circus freak center of the universe.  No joke.

In other news, Bre and I are moving to Azerbaijan, a small country in between Russia and Iran.  Due to my position as one of the world's foremost forensic accountants, the CIA has called me in to investigate the ruling class' finances, and help rein in the rampant corruption that is crippling the country.  Ever since the Azerbaijanian-Armenian conflict began, over 800,000 refugees have fled to the Nagorno-Karabakh enclave.  Bre and I already have a nice hut picked out, real close to the river so that we can have clean water to drink and bathe in.  It is my sincere hope that we will not only help bring this country closer to democracy, but also to introduce the local villagers to our Saviour.  Thank  you to everyone who has sent their well-wishes, and to everyone else, we'll see you upon our return.  Adios!

  • Eh, another month, another entry.  Due to all the requests, I'm back to bring you another bit of my thoughts in bits of data.  Actually there was only one request, but who am I to disappoint the fans?  I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas and New Year's Eve, and that 2005 will be a banner year for all of you.  I had a fun time last weekend introducing Napoleon Dynamite to my family (which they loved) (especially my dad, whom we all saw a little bit of Napoleon in).  It was "Sweeet" and my mom voted for Pedro.  We also watched The Bourne Supremacy, which rocks!!!  If you haven't seen this film yet, you need to run out and rent this right away.  Heck, buy it, and then buy me a copy since you can afford to buy it instead of renting it.  The storyline is top notch, and the action is simply breathtaking.  If you need to see the first movie, The Bourne Identity, feel free to come over to Bre and my place as we have it on tap.  Oooh, and tomorrow marks the return of Alias, now in its fourth season.  If you enjoy great television, don't miss Real World Road Rules Challenge: Battle of the Sexes II.  But if you enjoy out of this world television, make sure you catch the two hour premiere this Wednesday at 8 p.m.  And since you're watching ABC at 8, why not tune in an hour earlier at 7 to catch Lost?  You'll thank me later.  What else have you got to do on Wednesday nights?  If you've got a hot date, I suggest you try to convince your date that you both would have an awesome time watching ABC on Wednesday night.  It would be a lot cheaper.  You could even order a pizza or something.  Or, to really make it special, you could make something from scratch!  That's the ticket!

If you couldn't tell from the above paragraph, life is kind of slow right now.  I have the last portion of the exam on January 31 - wait, that's not true.  As of January 1st, they've now tacked on a fifth section of the exam!  So now I also have to take an exam on ethics.  Luckily I know somebody who can provide the answers...  Let's see, anything else exciting...hmm, nope, just looking forward to not having to be in the car for eight or ten hours this weekend!  And playing Bond on our Gamecube.  Alone.  Because nobody likes to play videogames with me.

    Star Wars Trilogy (Widescreen Edition)

What a weekend!  Bre and I cleaned out our garage, which had accumulated tons of junk.  We finally unpacked some boxes and hung some pictures that hadn't been done since we moved in back in July.  We also had a total geekfest and watched the entire Star Wars trilogy over the course of the weekend.  I love my wife, she's the best ever.  I just love the story of Star Wars, of Luke finding out his ultimate enemy is his father, his continued efforts to redeem him, and then finally the moment where Vader's love for his son causes him to throw the vile Emperor down a shaft.  And then there's the new movies...well, we won't talk about those.

One neat thing in the movie is Luke's prosthetic hand.  I always thought that was cool, and what a blessing that technology would be for so many people who have lost limbs or appendages or all of the above.  Then today I read this article in the Milwakee Sentinel.  At the University of Wisconsin - Madison, they've been able to successfully implant electrodes in two patients brains that allow them to control cursors on computers.  They were even able to play Pong, just by thinking!  This is basically the first step in being able to control computers and other electronics with our minds.  Imagine being able to move a robotic hand just by thinking, in the same manner as we move our flesh and bone hands!  We are well on our way to a place where people will have bionic legs that will alllow them to walk after being paralyzed for years...new robotic arms for amputees...there is no end to the usefulness!  But as with all technology, there is always the potential for evil that we have to keep in mind.

UPDATE:  This just in: if you can crack the case of the stolen inflatable SpongeBob SquarePants, you will receive as your reward a free Whopper a week for an entire year!  You could be just like Encyclopedia Brown!
